The objective of the Food Biotechnology Major is to cultivate a workforce specialized the comprehensive food technologies of the future and who will contribute to enhancing national health and quality of life, by utilizing convergence technologies such as food science, molecular biology, food microbiology, and ICT. This major consists of research on food action mechanisms to maintain health homeostasis, research on food processing and utilization, food safety research, and ICT based measurement technologies to evaluate food quality and safety. The major provides hands-on education in each area.
